Human and Animal Rights

All research needs to be performed as per the ethical framework drafted by “Helsinki” and must be approved by the Ethics Committee. If there is any uncertainty regarding the work that was not conducted by suitable means or the work is not as per the ethical framework then editors have the authority to reject the manuscripts or author can be asked to do suitable changes and apply again. Sometimes, if the editor has serious concerns about the ethics of manuscript study, then he can immediately reject the manuscript on ethical grounds.

In the Declaration of Helsinki, it asks the authors to make sure their published research which are associated with human body, animals and which used human data are in accordance with the “Declaration of Helsinki '' and must have been accepted by the Ethics Committee. It is compulsory to mention the name of the ethics committee and reference number if available and a statement consisting of all the procedures that comply with related laws in all manuscripts before submission. All the manuscripts must obey related laws and must follow institutional guidelines and if any study has been given exemption to have approval of ethics committee, then it also must be stated in the manuscripts with proper justification. If editor feels the necessity of evidence, information, and documents in support of this, it should be provided by the author when required. If the author fails to produce related documents and if the manuscript is not as per the “Declaration of Helsinki” and “Ethics Committee” then the editor has the authority of immediate rejections of the manuscripts and can also contact ethics committee for other information.

If somehow the author fails to take approval from the ethics committee, then in such cases the manuscript shall not proceed further for peer review process and the manuscript automatically gets rejected.

If the author wants to include a new tool or a new procedure in his institution for the advancement of his work, then the author needs to provide a justification in the manuscript which supports the necessity to have these new procedures and tools. It must be indicated in the manuscript properly why the new procedure and tools are better than the ones which are already in use. This can be neglected if the new procedures are already approved and authorized for clinical use at the author’s institution. Besides this, it is mandatory for the authors to get Ethics Committee approval and the patient’s consent to use the new procedure and tools. These new procedures must be in accordance with and follow the laws given by “Ethics Committee”.
